How to Prepare For an Interview

An interview is a window through which a perspective employer peeps in to a candidate's mind. Knowing their past, present and future helps an organization choose the right person for the job. So going for an interview without adequate preparation will be suicidal for the candidate. This will not only mar your career prospects, but will also put red flags on your candidature.

When you prepare for the interview, remember to do it amply before hand since the interviewer also plans ahead of the interview.

It is an interviewer's duty to rope in the best candidate. To achieve this he/she will ask you toughest interview questions. The idea is to test you every moment of the interview. They may pose you tricky questions. So some extra homework is needed here on your part.

Prepare for your answers well. Put your answers based on the facts, and your qualification and experience. Remember entire outcome of the interview is hinged upon how smartly and satisfactorily you answer the questions.

Why are you looking for in this job? How you are going to benefit the organization? What are your achievements? What are your skills? What do your previous employers think of you? What salary compensation do you want? How will you justify that? These are some of the questions you must have a ready answer for.

Answer the questions to the best of your abilities and convictions. Point out some examples by which you can describe your answers. Meticulous and descriptive examples will help you get the job, and perhaps a better salary.

Winning the interview game requires some skills like how you build the rapport with your interviewer. Remember the general human tendency that we like the one who we find responsive and interesting.

Before you face the interviewer you must have more than two copies of your updated resume or CV and all other supporting documents. A couple of good references may be required. This again is an opportunity to show that you are proactive and organized.

A job interview is an opportunity to discover all related facts about each other. So you must have on you all the information, necessary data and work samples that will help you get the required job.

Try to remember the company's relevant press releases, product launches, and other related issues. Prepare some interview questions to ask about the company, your role, and other related topics. Search for the company's trade practices and policies. Knowing a little about the company's competitors will also help.

You can ask any doubts if you have any in your mind. Perspective employers take doubts clarification as a good indication. It demonstrates that you are proactive and really looking forward to this job.

It is important to dress suitably for the occasion. Making a first impression is half the battle won. Appear presentable and at ease in your formals.

Speak clearly, honestly and intelligently. Exhibit your confidence, alertness, and awareness. Display of positive attitude, and a lot of energy and zeal will project your candidature favorably and help you get your desired job.
