Medical Interview Hints and Tips

The medical interview can be a frightening and nerve racking but is a fundamental part of admission to schools and jobs. This article was created by experts to provide you with some free tips to help you successfully pass the medical interview.

As within any interview you have to be confident in your abilities to succeed in the medical world. It is important not to come across as arrogant but remember to highlight your strengths and any proven track records courteously and confidently. Remember, the fact that you have qualified for the interview means that you have proven your knowledge and skills.

When the interviewer asks a question make sure your listen attentively, sit up straight, lean in towards the interviewer, keep eye contact (remember to blink so you don't look crazy!) and nod your head. Once they have asked the question pause for a few seconds (3-5 seconds), react positively to the question (with something like I'm glad you've asked that question or simply 'yes') and then execute the question with complete clarity. When pausing after the question its give you the chance to structure the perfect reply. It also gives the impression that you are really listening to what they are saying as apposed to blurting out the first thing that pops into your head. DO NOT wonder off the subject.

If you do not know the answer, don't lie, they can tell! Be honest and up front about it.

Make sure you are dressed and groomed appropriately, as this will be their first impression. Make sure you arrive early. During the interview keep the tone of your voice at a normal compassionate level and clear. Do not get frustrated or angry at any time. Make sure you have prepared excellent and detailed questions to ask them.

The KEY tips is that you must prepare thoroughly prior to your interview. You must find relevant information and articles on studied subjects and practice as many past and sample question you can.

If you fail to plan.... You plan to fail!
