Hospitality Jobs - Working in Hotels

When it comes to hospitality and jobs within hospitality, most people at some time in their career will have worked for a hotel in one form or another. Hotels range massively from basic places to sleep through to lavish 5 star world famous landmarks through to even 7 star in the Dubai with the best of everything from Michelin star food and world class wine through to having the best in pampering and spa facilities. If we take London for example, there are over 700 hotels to choose from so one is not short on choice.

Working for a hotel can indeed be a great experience. Usually with a large mix of cultures and personalities within an establishment, there is always something interesting or entertaining going on. Sometimes long hours are required however, due to the often demanding customers who have needs 24 hours a day. The rewards are there though and people often become so accustomed to working in hotels that it becomes a way of life for many who tread the path. There are many positions and job types within a hotel from a full brigade of chefs and kitchen staff, through to receptionist, porters, cleaning staff, engineers, events managers, bar staff, banqueting managers, sales and marketing teams and many more besides.

The Hotel trade is busier than ever, which can make it a stable job to be in. With the internet making it much easier these days to find and read about various hotels, booking has become very easy indeed. Also there are various informative and helpful websites which will separate the good from the bad. These sites can also be helpful when trying to gain information and reviews when looking to apply for a job in a particular hotel.

Some of the high class hotels offer some of the best cuisine available, outperforming many good restaurants. Some hotel managers will indeed use their weight to attract some of the finest chefs and personalities in the business and open a high quality restaurant, sometimes to Michelin star standard to improve and enforce their reputation. Competition, after all, is fierce and everyone wants a piece of the cake. This is extremely healthy and keeps the quality and standards high, which after all is what we are looking for.
